The Journey: Discover the area's rich history, learn about native edible and medicinal plants, and walk through beautiful, lush landscapes at your own pace on this private tour. You'll explore the heritage of the Tlingit people, the impact of Russian colonization in Sitka, and the region’s plants and animals. Stops include Starrigavan Estuary (Old Sitka), Sitka National Historical Park (Totem Park and Indian River). This tour is perfect for anyone interested in history, nature, flora and fauna. - Guided walk through the Tongass National Forest - Learn about the Tlingit and Russian History - Visit key historical landmarks, including Sitka National Historical Park/Totem Park - Experience the beauty of local trails and natural scenery Level of difficulty: Easy . There will be uneven surfaces and some muddy and slippery areas. Participants need to be able to walk for 45 minutes at a time at a moderate pace. Number of participants & Age: This is a private guided hiking tour, and you can have up to 7 participants. There is no minimum age for private hikes, but please read our FAQ page for more information on age recommendations and transportation requirements for children 7 and under. A parent, a legal guardian, or an adult family member must accompany participants under 18. Meeting Location: We can pick you up at your place of choice (your hotel, cruise dock, Airbnb, etc.) You'll fill in your location of choice when booking. Included: Transportation to and from the trails, a knowledgeable local guide, bear and wilderness safety, and hiking poles. Please bring your own water bottle to reduce single-use plastic waste. If needed, there are opportunities to refill it throughout the tour. Price: $110 per person (not including taxes/fees).
